Most people I know buy Akatsuki cloaks, but I wanted the challenge of making my own. I drafted my own pattern for the coat, with the collar being the most challenging part. The cloak itself is made of suiting on the exterior and is fully lined with a red polyester on the inside. It’s also interfaced in the front and back panels to help keep the slight bell shape of the cloak design. To finish off the cloak, it was trimmed with red bias tape and closes with large snaps. The signature red clouds were done in heat transfer vinyl. Each were hand cut and applied in two parts, the red than the white. For Itachi’s under attire I made sure to remain accurate and made his clothing as well. I used a light weight cotton suiting as well to make the top and pants. The pants are a simple to piece pattern with an elastic waist. The top is a pull over and the front detail was done in fish net and flesh colored spandex, which helped to insure my binder remained hidden. The ninja shoes were made by placing an altered sock over a sandal, then crafting a white stirrup legging to go over it. Itachi’s accessories, the head band, ring and necklace, were all purchased online. His wig a Le Tigre Long in black from Arda Wigs. Styling consisted of cutting and thinning the bangs, placing in a low ponytail, and trimming length in the back. Contacts were purchased online as well.
