Sophitia Alexandra

Character: Sophitia Alexandra
Version: First player costume
Series: Soul Calibur III
When Completed: Jan. 07
Reason: I enjoyed being Cassandra a lot and when SCIII came out I liked her sister, Sophitia, a lot more in the previous installments. It worked out better for me since my hair has grown a lot and I would need to purchase a wig if I wanted to do more Cassandra cosplay. I can't wait to have this finished!
Worn to:
Sac-Anime 07
Wondercon 07
Fanime 07
Sac-con Sept. 07
Awards:
Best Costume @ Sac-Anime 07

Construction Notes: As of now I'm using a modified pattern for a greek goddess. The material is a cotton like gauze stuff to give that Greek look to it. The sword and shield are the same ones I used for Cassandra and I modified the sheild design to fit Sophitia. The head dress was made of a head band with fake leaves attached and blue glass bead I bought at a craft store. The armor was made using a tutorial from Penwiper, of course with a few modifications to meet my needs. The cheast armor is really a bra I bought and then use Dyn-a-flow paint in their metallics to give the metal look. It also made it rather hard too! Shoes were made from a pattern I made and the base of the shoes were an old pair I bought on a trip years ago. In fact I almost threw them away!. The belt is made from a pattern I made and I used a brown suede-like material, as my machine can go through leather plus that stuff is super expensive. The uper arm bands and gaunlets were of my own design and made sure to attach the straps with buckels. The gold bands and detail on the bra straps, gauntlets, and shoes were hand painted on with a mixture of two different colors of Dyn-a-flow metallic paint. The gold button like things are large button cover sets that were painted and raised detail was done using hot glue. Of course I used some green/black paint to give it the aged looked. I also used eyelets and shoe leather for all my closures (except the lower parts of my shoes) to give it an added Greecian touch... even if I did have to put in over 50 eyelets! I did use my own hair for this costume and I all did was braid it and tie a blue ribbon in it. If you have an questions, please feel free to e-mail me!

Progress Shots:

Cutting out the armor and its designs out of craft foam. Yummy crackers and mac-&-cheese!

Armor after assembleing, shaping, and attaching the back cloth for support. Now I'm about to seal them.

Here is a side shoot of the armor.
