Princess Serenity

Character: Princess Serenity
Version: Anime
Series: Sailor Moon
When Completed: Fall of 2005
Reason: I have always loved this dress and it looked like something easy to do. Well, I was wrong, it took me a long time to make this one, plus a lot of modifications. Everything in the end was done from scratch. I'm actually very proud of how it turned out considering it was one of my first costumes. The only flaws is that the skirt isn't a circle skirt and that the "sleeves" aren't 100% accurate. Oh well, I really want to remake this so perhaps in version two!
Worn to:
JTAF 2006

Construction Notes: Dress was made using a heavy modified fairy costume. In the end I used the pattern more as a suggestion on how to make it. Gold circles are made of fabric and reinforced with lightweight interfacing. Gold beads were spray painted from white to gold and then hand sewn on. Back bow made from my own pattern, heavyweight interfacing was used to make it stiff. Sleeves are a modified version of the popular style seen worn buy most Usagi cosplayers, and were made using fabric and craft foam. Hair pearls and bracelet made from hair beads. I hope my next version of this dress is a lot better.
