2009 Cosplay Review.

Top Row L->R:

Emerald from Sailor Moon R, Eclair from Kiddy Grade, Hungary from Hetalia, Sophitia from Soul Calibur II, Hikaru from Magic Knights Rayearth.

Bottom Row L->R:
Blind Mag from Repo! The Genetic Opera, Yoko from Gurren Lagann, Ranka from Macross Frontier, Wayward Victorian Girl

Conventions attended:

ALA, Cherry Blossom Parade, Sac-Anime, Fanime, AX, Sacanime (summer).

Most Difficult:
Hikaru.  Fiberglassing was a LOT of work.  Plus other stupid things with this costume. Just ugh… I’m glad it’s done.

Easiest Costume:
Tie between Emerald and Hungary.  Thought thinkg Emerald wins because I wasn’t sick while I was trying to make it.

Most Hated:
Sophitia.  Dress is awful and makes me look awful in return.

Most Loved:
This is hard.  I made a few costumes I just love.  I think Eclair, Hikaru, Yoko and Victorian Girl are my favorites this year.

Most Worn:
Uh, Yoko, Eclair and Hikaru.

Most expensive:

Hikaru by leaps and bounds.

Cheapest:

Emerald. Super budget cosplay.

Best cosplay memory of the year:
Meeting Emilie Autumn in my costume and having her call me the “Queen of Hearts”. Meeting someone who is an inspiration for pretty much everything in your life and then complementing you is pretty fucking amazing.

There you have it.  Hopefully 2010 will bring some great things cosplay wise.  This year I want to make a solid effort to make costumes I have been wanting to do for YEARS.  This includes but is not limited to: Cammy, Morrigan, and Cassandra.  Expect these this year FOR SURE.

Big Distraction.

The computer and internet.

Is a big distraction that is.  It’s just so tempting to reach over and check Twitter feeds or Etsy.  Before you know it, it has you in it’s evil cyber clutches.  I should really think about hiding my computer from myself to get some work done!  LOL I kid.  I’m not that bad… or am?

That’s all besides the point.  Did everyone have a good Christmas?  Mine was rather low key, which was nice.  To be honest I’m glad that Christmas is said and done.  It’s a lot of work and money, and this year there wasn’t much magic to it.  Maybe because I’m getting older, I don’t know to be honest.  Of course I’m grateful to the things I got. God knows that I have been dieing to get Emilie Autumn’s Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls book and getting money to attain some much need clothes was very lovely indeed.

And oh god, the new Doctor Who episode! Did any of you see it???  I’m just… WOW.  Can’t wait until New Years.  My sweetie just got into Doctor Who and plans to do the Master at ALA while myself and my friend Ellome do Rose and the Doctor respectfully.  Should be fun.  Been meaning to do some DW cosplay for a while now.  :D

Speaking of ALA…
It’s too close!  I can start to feel the pressure of getting stuff completed.  At times though I think I work better when I have a deadline breathing down my neck.  Haven’t been taking photos of progress but I swear it’s there.  Here is what my list is starting to look like:

ALA 90% Accurate Cosplay List
Friday: Maka from Soul Eater
Saturday: Ranka from Macross F or Wayward Victorian Girl in the AM, Asmodeus of Lust from Umineko no Naku Koro ni
Sunday: Rose Tyler from Doctor Who

Aside from Maka, Asmodeus and Rose everything else is still subject to change.  We’ll see how I feel when I get to packing and if I can squeeze anything else in there last minute. :D

Back to work for me.  Feel free to

Merry Christmas Everyone!

CosVlog Episode #1: Wigs LIVE!

Took me a few months to get this idea off the ground but making the first video is a step in the right direction. CosVlog will be something I will like to do on a regular basis if there is a demand for it. So that means I’m counting on you to give me ideas for topics that you want me to talk about. It can be anything from how-to’s, tips, or even my cosplay plans/progress. This is something that I’m doing for all of you. <3 Since this is the first video, think of it as pilot episode. If you have suggestions please leave them. :D

It took me way too long to edit these photos, but I guess it’s better late then never.  Anyways, I officially added my first original designs to the costume page.  Check it out for info about the costume and photos. :)

Mew

Zak has really gotten into Doctor Who. We just finished season two and about to start three. While I love a lot of the stories in three (and the finale) Martha needs to go jump off a cliff. Anyone that is that helpless needs not to travel with the Doctor. Even looking at the cover of season three she has this terrible face that embodies a sense of panic and disquietude. This recent resurgence of Doctor Who has made me finally get around to doing on of Rose’s outfits with . ALA. Be there. Right place, wrong time. Brilliant.

Finally, I had another beading class today. Learned a very versatile stitch that I’m sure I’ll be using in the very near future. The highlight of this class? Someone bringing in a kitten with the mew that could melt hearts.

Now this is where I share some sappy kitten videos and call it a night. Ado everyone.

God I miss having a cat. :( ((((((

Wear it. Flirt it. Flaunt it.

I admit there are times where I do miss having long hair (for those that don’t know I have had long, long hair up until last Feb.) But then I swiftly recall that I never had the nice full long hair that I always wished for. My hair is particularly thin, and being light blond makes it looks even thinner once it reaches my mid-lower back. So, I was thinking about getting some of those nifty clip-in extensions. The question is do I make them myself since it will be cheaper and I can get a perfect color match, or do I shell out $60-$70? I’m not rich by any stretch of imagination and I can’t really justify spending that much on something I can make for $20. I saw these at Sally’s Beauty: Dream Catchers Clipin-Go Hair Extensions. Reviews are good, color seems to match but I’m rather hesitant on purchasing anything linked to Paris Hilton. So thoughts? Recommendations?

Also, I’m currently in the process of editing my first Cosplay Vlog, in which I talk about wigs. Very short but I hope it is informative. Oh and please submit your questions if you got them! I like helping people more then just picking a topic and yammering on about it for 10mins.

OH! and AND new merchandise will be added soon to Etsy. Some great accessory items to help keep you warm this winter season. Add me on Twitter to get exclusive promo codes and discounts! Follow WindoftheStars on Twitter

Gee Golly it’s 1am already? I better get to bed so I’m awake enough at my beading class tomorrow.

Let it Snow, Let it Snow!

December 10th, 2009 -

I love the holiday season and it is about the only time I tolerate the snow. On Monday we got slammed with almost 2′ of snow in 24 hrs. Anyways, I’m finally starting to see the roads again but we are suppose to get more snow over the weekend. None the less it is fun to see stuff like this in business’ parking lots!

Cosplay progress to come sooooon. :D

Well that Sucks!

On Friday I noticed that someone had stolen my bank card info and had made a $700 purchase at HP. I promptly called my bank, canceled my card and filed a claim. I also called HP to report the fraud too. Saturday night it looks like my account is back to normal, but when I checked it this morning LIES. Same transaction appears back on my account. Dealing with the bank at 7am is not ideal.

Now I’m a little stressed as I can’t access my money to pay bills, get Christmas gifts, or get supplies for my con in less then a month. Very worrisome. Not to mention sales on my stuff are nonexistent. :/

Wow this was a depressing post and I didn’t mean it to be! Here have a picture of all the snowfall from yesterday. I hate snow. lol
