Songbird

Songbird

Character:
Songbird
Version: Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 Game
Series: Thunderbolts
When Completed: July 2011
Reason: SONGBIRD! My favorite superhero ever. Might be because her name is Melissa too or that she has pink hair or because she’s badass. Either way she’s pretty freaking rad. In fact all the Thunderbolts are pretty rad. I’ve been wanting to do this character for almost two years now, so when I knew I was going to Comic Con this year I wanted to make a point to finally make it. I decided to do the Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2 game version, instead of her comic versions, because I liked the look of the armor more and I loved the pink piping in the suit. It was a good challenge for me and I was super happy with the outcome. There are a few things I want to tweak before wearing it next time, but overall I’m pretty stoked to have a Songbird outfit. I was even more thrilled by how many people that knew who I was! :D
Worn to:
San Diego Comic Con 2011

Construction Details:Body suit is made of black matte spandex, white metallic spandex, and pink metallic spandex. The body suit was patterned so the white “boots” were part of the suit so I didn’t have to worry about them shifting. The pink piping was made by me using the pink metallic spandex and then sewn into the weird seam lines. The white bird on the front was sewn directly on top of the suit. Shoes were just covers made of the same white metallic as the rest of the suit. Gloves are quick and dirty style gloves. The armor is made of craft foam, fiberglass, and resin. The shoulder armor is all craftfoam covered in fiberglass. The gauntlets and belt are craft foam covered in resin then painted so they could remain flexible. The pink bits are acrylic. Big thank you to my bf Ice_Man for helping on the armor bits!Photos(click on the image for full view)Photos credits to Judy Stephens of Marvel.com.
